Brock: "Coil” Wound Too Tightly

NEED:

To develop his executive presence, especially with senior male executives; to develop his staff and not micromanage; to deal more effectively with others in general.

OPPORTUNITY:

Become more confident; gain more respect and more impact within and outside the organization; more accepting of his way of living his life as opposed to his mentor’s; having more time for family; finding his own voice…and using it.

CHANGE:

A “real, dynamic shift” was noted according to his boss.  He became able to express his honest opinions without being confrontational.  Became more open and honest with his staff, was better able to focus on them as individuals, show he’s invested and cares about his team. Boss’s quote: “He learned to trust that honesty builds better relationships.”  He also learned to express that honesty. Confidence level shot ‘very high.’

BENEFITS:

  • Better relationship with his boss (female) and key client (male). Raised his executive presence.

  • Gained respect: The client said, “This is the first time in all the years we’ve worked with you, that you told me what I needed to hear, not what you thought I wanted to hear.”

  • Accepted the value of his career choices.

  • He relaxed—left earlier, more time with family (another child on the way).

  • Began developing staff.
