Bart: Get Ready for Promotion

NEED:

Company wanted to retain this high potential employee and groom him for advancement.  Management wasn’t sure what he wanted and if he wanted to move up. They were afraid he would jump for more money elsewhere.  Bart actually believed he was too young to be a manager and wasn't sure about his location preference.

OPPORTUNITY:

Discern what he really wants from a career; to accept that he has everything he needs now to succeed; that he’s not “too young” and has paid his dues.  Get promoted.

CHANGE:

Bart accepted that he was capable of success—he just needed to demonstrate that belief.  He became more open and engaged in office life—he loosened up.  He stopped restricting himself and chose to step into a leadership role.  Bart saw how people reacted to his being more genuine with them.  He even developed his own quote: “Be yourself and good things will happen.” He learned to see the joy and not focus on the negative and started to ask for what he wanted.

BENEFITS:

  • Bart evolved in that he accepted everything he is capable of doing and stopped worrying about his age.

  • He became more comfortable in his own skin and was able to speak up for what he wanted.

  • He owned his strengths, grew into the person he already was.

  • The company promoted this excellent employee to manager of small mid-Atlantic office and was able to retain him.
